Addressing if you know the name, but you don't know gender [mysterious situation]

There are names you cannot know if the person is male or female...
Today morning I was writing an email to Ms or Mr Laurence N. (I know the full family name). The person work for an international organization in Geneve, and she or he might be of any nationality, although the family name N. narrow it to eather Arabic or French.
On the other side, the name Laurence may be English male name, or French female name.
I was searching internet to find something about her or him..., but I didn't find anything of use.

Did you have similar situation in addressing people? How to address a person if you have to write letter or e-mail, you know the name, but given name might be eather malo or female?

Hello, Alesh -- and welcome to English Forums. This is a common problem, and it is really the fault of that person, who should know that his/her name can be misconstrued. You will just have to continue your search.
