Additional to/in addition to

Hi all,

I'm not sure if I'm writing the following sentences right. Could you please help check them?

When the rule (terms?) is CIF, the seller has the following additional responsibilities to the ones (they do?) in FOB.

When the rule is CIF, the seller has the following responsibilities in addition to the ones in FOB.

chenyincheng When the rule is CIF, the seller has the following responsibilities in addition to the ones in FOB. If you are writing a business agreement of some kind, this is not good English. I'd simply suggest: The seller is to follow the responsibilities stated in the CIF (I have no idea what CIF is), in addition to the ones described in the FOB.

No, CIF and FOB are 2 sets of rules that define what a seller and a buyer's responsibilities are when trading. Under the CIF rule, the seller is obliged to pay shipping costs and cargo insurance fees, whereas in FOB, that is the buyers responsibility. They decide through negotiation which rule to use prior to the transaction.

I understand there are two set of rules from your original posting. But you did not mention anything about the seller in your first post.

When the rule is CIF, the seller has the following responsibilities in addition to the ones in FOB.

When the terms are CIF, the seller has the following responsibilities in addition to those of FOB.

As the additional responsibilities are things that must be paid for, I'd prefer:
With CIF, the seller must, in addition to FOB costs, bear the following costs:

Thank you!

I suppose it is incorrect to say "additional sth. to sth." then?
