Added vs Broadened

However, it is the ______ use and increased number of cars that are doing the most damage.

A. intensified
B. added
C. expanded
D. broadened

I found out the answer to be B. But i think one would argue it should be D, right?

broadened=diversify. Why must it be added when the author mentioned increased number of cars?

Need your opinion on this. Thanks a bunch~^^

Hi wakakaka, "added" use means that cars are being used more often. "increased" number means that there are more cars. So, these are two different reasons for the damage.
