to is the proper adjective here.

Thanks, If the picture showed a boy putting a spoonful of coffee into a cup, do we say:

He added some coffee into the cup. (is there a correct way?)

P/s: Do it mean we have to use "add...to" no matter what the pictures are.)

These sound natural to me:

He added sugar to his coffee.

He poured the coffee into the cup.

He added some coffee to the cup.

I guess it's the verb that matters more. We "pour into..." and "add to..".

Do we care about the picture if the picture show me that:

She is putting a spoonful of coffee into the cup of coffee?
(so, we use "She added some sugar into the coffee? )

Or we just follow the common way of "add to"?

if you meant to say "sugar," say "she added some sugar to the coffee" or "she put some sugar in the coffee." If you use the verb "pour," you could use "into" "she poured milk into the coffee until the cup overflowed."

I think Philip is right -- it's the verb that determines athe preposit

A spoonful of [instant] coffee into a cup of hot water and you have some wretched and foul coffee, but coffee nonetheless.

However, Sanka is good for mixing into brownie mix for espresso brownies, so it does have its use.
