I have heard some of my non-native English speaking friends say the sentences below.
(1) Thank you for cooking for me. I'm very hungry. This amount is not enough for me. Could you add some more food to my lunch? (meaning give me more food)
(2) Thank you for cooking for me. I'm not very hungry. This amount is too much for me. Could you take some food out of my lunch? (meaning take some food back)
Is it okay to say "add some more food" and "take some food out"? Thank you very much.
