Hi all,I know what actually means in my language, however I still cannot understand when I should use it in English.Please give me some information about actually and some examples as well.And if you couldn't give me the information, examples will be enough for me to find out how I can use actually.Thank you guys for helping us.JM.

Please let me give some information as far as I know about "Actually". I think Actually is usually used in front of a sentence.For example,

First guy asked his friend, " Hey,buddy,can you come along with me to the club?"

Second guy answered, "Oh, I am sorry. Actually, I am going to the library to read some books."

Moreover, I think "Actually" can also be used in telling the truth.

Example:

Do you have a licence for driving a car?

Actually, I don't even know how to drive a car.

That's all I know.

Thank you so much for helping. You are great. I almost got my answer. I think the both examples which you used to tell me the answer, was same a little. I mean you have used actually in the same meaning. Maybe this is the only meaning that should be used for actually. however, thank you so much dear friend.

I don't know about your language, but in mine (Spanish), many people have poblems when using actually, since it's a typical example of false friend (actualmente means at present or nowadays). I hope the experts will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can use it as a synonym for really. It can also be used for emphasis, but as a matter of fact, I cannot think of any example in Spanish where I could not use realmente also in this case.
