"Actual" or "timely"

"Unfortunately, the war in Syria looks like a never-ending story. Therefore this topic will stay actual (or timely) for newspapers for quite some time."

Is the wording correct? I'm not part-ly sure about "actual" or "timely"...

Thank you!
