Actor out of role?

Dear All,

Has anyone ever heard an expression: actor out of role?

Does it mean that he or she can't find a role in a movie?

Thanks

Do you have any more context? It could refer to an actor, within a performance, temporarily stepping out of his or her role, e.g. to address the audience directly.
