In a video i watched on youtube some one says "The mattress in hotel was crawling with bugs".

As per my knowledge the above sentence is Active voice because subject Mattress not doing any action and the Passive voice form is "Sub+WAS/WERE+P.P".
The above sentence should be "The Mattress in the hotel were being crawled with bugs".
is the given sentence correct grammatically. if ,could you explain how?
