Is the following sentence correct?

He told that although he had a very bad time in prison and had faced many intolerable situations, but he won’t let anyone else to act with hate to people who had hurt them.

Is the use of 'told' correct?Or it needs to be changed to 'stated

As it stands by itself, yes; though stated sounds better. This, however, is reported speech, so you better check the original speech and the context of it to be able to determine as the more befitting word.
