ACT QUESTION

This was an ACT question in my practice book.

Although the name- fanny pack- did not appeal to me as the product itself did. It was sleek, eye catching, and, best of all, appeared to be actually functional.

1.) A. NO CHANGE

B. myself, though

C. me,

D. me, like

The answer was c.) This question completely threw me off. First of all is that first sentence even a sentence? The punctuation after did is a period not a comma. I dont think this is a typo because it's an offical book. I chose a.)

  • (pause) Although the scenery seemed poorly chosen.
  • (an afterthought) If you replace the underlined " to me " with "me," the sentence will be ungrammatical -- even for the purpose of casual conversation.

It does seem like a strange exercise. My choice would be "A."

Technically, with "although," this is not a sentence. (It would be, without "although.")

But people often use this technique in casual conversation to add a contrary view:

I thought the play was great! (pause) Although the scenery seemed poorly chosen. (an afterthought)

I am sorry. I just looked at the question again. It was

Although the name- ***** pack- did not appeal to me as the product itself did.

1.) A. NO CHANGE

B. myself, though

C. me,

D. me, like

Now the answer choice c makes sense.
