Basic English sentence structure consists of a subject, a verb and an object.

Subject - verb - object.

In active voice sentences, the subject performs the action described by the verb. Look at these sentences in active voice. Find the subject, verb and object.

Some verbs do not have an object. These are example sentences with intransitive verbs.

You cannot make passive voice sentences with these verbs. There is no object that you can change to be a grammatical subject.
