If you want to more clearly separate those things, you can say:

“... who have always been there for me, and who have given me (extensive) support and encouragement throughout my academic career".

Personally I would omit the word "extensive". I don't think it fits the tone very well.

Out of curiosity, is it possible to remove the second “who have” and just start with the comma and and (i.e., ...... there for me, and given me ....)?
