Acknowledgement

Hi.

I have the habit of using the sentence, First and foremost, I beg to return my acknowledgement for your response when I want to thank my professor for his response.

I don't know from where I learned this sentence. But after using it thousands of time, I feel that it doesn't seem natural or common.

Disabuse me if I am wrong

Thanks in advance

If you said it to me, I would think you were attempting to pose as my great, great grandfather.

That is over the top. In the UK, you'd get laughed at for writing something like that.
