Accursed and Cursed

What is the difference between "Accursed" and "Cursed"? Do they have the same meaning?

Top answer

The main difference to me is that I find 'accursed' very old-fashioned, almost archaic. I associate it mainly with a religious and/or biblical context. The adjective 'cursed' is not very common either.
