account for

Hi there, could you please correct the following sentences:

1) The use of XXX detectors in the YYY spectrometry of heavy ions is known to have delicate methodological problems due to the XX and YY effects (maybe "associated with methodological issues"?)

Maybe better like this:
XXX detectors are most commonly used in theYYY spectrometry of heavy ions and are known to have delicate methodological issues .

2) The correct accounting for both effects needs a rather complicated procedure of mass reconstruction.

Would it be better to say "In order to effectively account for both effects, a rather complicated procedure of mass reconstruction is needed".

3) Do I need indefinite or a definite article in this title: Time-of-flight spectrometry in a/the wide range of energies.

Thanks.

)Maybe better like this:*** detectors are most commonly used in theYYY spectrometry of heavy ions and are known to have delicate methodological issues . Your first thought was best. "Issues" is vague.

  • )Maybe better like this:*** detectors are most commonly used in theYYY spectrometry of heavy ions and are known to have delicate methodological issues .
  • Your first thought was best.
  • "Issues" is vague.
  • "Problems" is what you mean.
  • The compound sentence is incongruous.

Enoon,

I have a weird sentence here:

Practical procedure of taking into account of both effects in reconstruction of the FFs masses is presented in Fig. 1.

I need to say that practically these effects were considered.

I was unsure about "taking into account", I think it sounds strange.
I was thinking of something like "practical application of both effects" or something, what do you think?

snuppelinawhat do you think?
I think you're losing me. I'm a pedant, not a particle physicist. Please explain a little.

There are two effects, namely PHD and PD, and the spectrometry of heavy ions is known to have some problems because of them. I mean to say that these effects started to be considered in reconstruction of the FFs masses.
But I think what you suggested above is ok.
