accordion scheduling

Have you ever heard the term 'accordion scheduling'?
It seems to mean something like 'arranging part-time
workers and temporary workers according to the manpower
needs of the company'.

Thank you.

Hi guys,

There is nothing (14 hits) on Google for this. Itasan's definition does seem to be correct.

This seems to be another of the many business practices today that are good for the owners, bad for the workers.

Best wishes, Clive

Tell me about it. My poor son was taken on at a shop in what they called a 'zero-hour contract', meaning that there are no guaranteed regular hours. It started off well as he got 30-40 hours the first few weeks. But he has had just 8 hours work over the whole of the last three weeks!
