According to

I have a question about the difference between "according to" and "depending on". In the following sentence, "according to" sounds a bit odd to me, but I am not quite sure if I am right or wrong...

"According to the region, the blooming season of the flower is different."

To me, "Depending on..." sounds correct (or better).

Thanks,

K

" sounds correct (or better). Agreed. I guess "according to" isn't exactly wrong but it is very odd and awkward sounding in your example.

It is not wrong, but I agree that it sounds a little odd. I suppose that is because, although the phrase has several valid meanings, we more usually use it to mean 'on the authority of; as stated or reported by: According to her, they have gone.'
