According to

It could be relaxing or irritating, depending on how you feel at the moment.

If the 'depending on' in bold was replaced with 'according to ' as:

It could be relaxing or irritating, according to how you feel at the moment.

would it still sound natural?

1. depending on my mood = my mood determines it

2. according to my mood = one mood is linked to X, another to Y

I would say that #2 is implicit in #1.

I think #2 is less specific: #2 relates, but #1 causally relates.
