Acceptable sentence?

I'm confused with the use of the phrase "Apart from different kinds of water-sports" in the following sentence.
Apart from different kinds of water-sports, Malaysia's beach resorts offer snorkelling and scuba diving around the numerous coral reefs.
I think snorkelling and scuba diving are also water-sports.
Is the sentence acceptable? Thanks in advance.

Thanks, tamguatlay.
But you know 'apart from' means 'in addition to sth'.
So we don't need to add snorkelling and scuba diving to the phrase 'different kinds of water-sports'.

Many people use the word 'sports' only of competitive activities.

I, too, question whether these should be classified as sports. For this reason, I don't find it particularly disturbing to see the "apart from" phrase in that sentence.

There is no 'should' about it. We are free to regard them as sports or not. I choose not to.
