Accent

Hello...

Without specific context, when people say, “They hauled the lines in”, where does the accent fall?
On “lines” or on “in”?

I feel the accent should be on “in”, not on “lines”.
Like, in case of “took the trees down”, the accent must be on “down”, not on “trees”.

pructus I feel the accent should be on “in”, not on “lines”. Not for me. As isolated sentences, I'd say: hauled the LINES in took the TREES down threw the SCRAPS out with only a slight secondary stress on "in", "down", and "out".
