Abundant use of "his" where I think "him" should be used
English is not my mother tongue but I consider myself very fluent in it. However I am very confused over the following issue.
I've been offered an employment contract with a lot of "his" where I'm convinced "him" should be used. Here are several sentences, with irrelevant parts edited/substituted to preserve confidentiality, as well as the offending "his" capitalised:
1) "Subject to such instructions and directions as may from time to time be given to HIS by the Board of Directors of the Company John Doe shall faithfully and diligently undertake..."
2) "...as if they were duties to be performed by HIS on behalf of the Company."
3) "...he is not and will not be in breach of any express or implied terms of any contract, with or of any other obligation to any third parties binding upon HIS."
4) "John Doe shall be reimbursed all telephone, hotel, travelling and other out of pocket expenses reasonably incurred by HIS in or about the proper performance."
5) "...any of the duties properly assigned or delegated to HIS hereunder and..."
So, can someone knowledgeable explain to me why in the above sentences "his" is used? The only possible explanation I've come up with is that a person in that Company's human resources department did a quick search/replace, replacing all occurrences of "her" (probably from a template for a female worker) with "his". This way a document for some Jane Doe must have had the word "her" occurring everywhere, which is grammatically correct, while the same document for John Doe (i.e. me) should have same occurrences of "her" replaced with "his" and others with "him" to preserve the correctness. That would, in turn, mean the above sentences are incorrect!
Is my assumption correct or is there some magic rule in English language that I am not aware of? (I would most definitely not want to leave impression of an ignorant person by pointing this out to them).
