Hi, just wondering, does absurd work as well as ridiculous in this instance?
I did what any other self-conscious teenager would do: I began to mime.
Now, it seems like a ridiculous/absurd thing to have done, especially as I had to play in front of Mr Pash during my lessons, but during that first rehearsal, I just couldn’t do it.

Both words work there. The part that doesn't work so well for me is the "to have done ... just couldn't do it" combination.

Obviously "done" and "do" are intended to refer to different things, but the sentence structure doesn't necessarily give that impression.
