Is it possible for 'to absorb him/her' to mean 'to learn something from him/her' in certain context?

Sorry, I don't have the whole sentence. I just wondered if it's possible for that phrase to mean that way in some specific context, maybe in a poem or in a novel, when someone absorbs everything he/she has.

It would be understood that way in the right context, but it is not a very usual thing to say and it looks a bit odd at first glance. I suppose in a helpful context it might seem better than

Can be. It sometimes happens here that someone posts a certain phrase or expression, and everyone says it sounds odd. Then it transpires that it's a quote from some respected author, and when you read the whole passage in context it seems OK after all.
