The Chicago Manual of Style lists only "sc." The American Heritage Dictionary shows both "sc." and "ss." This is a rare abbreviation, and you should consult your editor or the house stylebook to find out what they prefer. If left to my own devices, and I had to use an arcane Latin abbreviation where plain English would be just as good instead, I would go with "sc."
