ABRADED: FRICTION -- a tricky one
ABRADED: FRICTION::
A. refined: distillate
B. anodized: metal
C. diluted: gas
D. strengthened: pressure
E. vaporized: heat
Friction: The rubbing of one object against another. It would cause the object to be abraded.
Then which one is correct.
It seems 'A and E' would be most likely. But "A. distillate" means a purified liquid, so it would not fit. (I think it should be replaced by "distillation".) Then it's E? "Vaporized" is not the direct result of "heating"? Besides, "heating" can cause "warming" or "melting".
What do you think? Thank you.

My favorite is E. There is a common pattern between 'Abraded: friction' and 'Vaporized: heat' and it is that of a natural phenomenom or physical cause. Whereas with A it has to be a man driven transformation that takes place for the 'refined' state to be achieved.

The answer is ''E''.
As you said,constant friction against objects causes them to abrade or erode ( get destroyed).
So the answer has to be something that causes destruction. The refined : distillation answer is opposite to the answer we need.
Constant heating always causes vapor to come out so I'll stick to E.

I think that ultimately if you heated anything enough it would vaporise? Whatever you dropped into the sun would do more than just melt...
