"above queries", "queries above"

Hi

In the #1 the "above" is placed pre-positively beside "queries" in contrast to the arrangement in #2. I have seen both versions used. In the #1 I think "above" is an adjective because if modifies the following noun but not sure about the "above" in #2. Could you please shed some light on this, and which version do you think is 'actually' correct? Thanks.

1: It would extremely nice of you if you could help me with the above queries.
2: It would extremely nice of you if you could help me with the queries above.

Strangely, perhaps, only the second sounds correct to my ear. It wasn't until I started visiting this forum that I noticed how widely accepted the reverse word order is.
