about understanding in context

Morning everyone, I'm here for help again! I just read an article about the drawing, an artist. And then here it goes, "It really doesn’t matter whether you can draw or not–just examining in detail, turning a flower or shell over in your fingers, opens doors." ---- I don't know how to hold the meaning of "open doors". Does it also refer to drawing to let the sunshine into the room or just talk about the attitude towards the drawing. I'd be appreciated your help...

If something opens (new) doors for you, it means that it provides you with new opportunities . In this case, the writer also seems to mean that it provides new insights, new ideas. eg When Tom completed his MBA, it opened new doors for hm.
