About types of English Teaching Positions (Public/Private/International Schools)

Hey all, my name is Robert, and I have a question about the types of positions you can hold as a TEFL certified teacher, namely the types of locations. I know that you can hold positions at both Private institutions and International/Language Schools, but is it possible to hold positions in Public Schools also, or no?

Anonymous is it possible to hold positions in Public Schools also, It depends on the country and the national or local boards of education. Many public schools in Japan hire native speakers as AETs (assistant English teachers).

Ok, thanks, just knowing that it may be a possibility is enough for me. I personally would prefer to teach in a public school as it seems to me that the 'immersion' would be a little more impacting, and one of my big reasons for getting into this is to learn about other cultures myself
