About "to put on"

What is the right form :
"I put my pants and my shirt on".
or
"I put on my pants and my shirt".

Then : "I put on them."
or
"I put them on."

It's either way with "my pants and my shirt", but "put on" is better. With "them", only "I put them on" is possible.
