About to or very close?

Sentence: The yeild curve is very close to/about to get inverted in BRIC nations.

Question: Firstly, is the sentence systax is correct? Do we use "get" here with "very close to" and "about to"? Secondly, what is the difference between "about to" and "very close to". Are they one and the same?

Thanks

Either of these is OK. The second is a more predictive statement than the first.

"Get" is such an overused, commonplace, hackneyed verb! You can use it, but it does not sound very professional.

In these sentences, become (or even be) fits the meaning much better.
