Hi,As set forth, could I do some changing in this way?Could any native speaker help me and tell if it is correct or not?Thank you in advance.Some people are hard to satisfy.= It is hard for the men to want to satisfy the some people.= To satisfy the some people is hard for the men to do that.The mountain is hard to climb.= The mountain is hard for the people who should climb it.= To climb the mountain is hard for the people to do that.How hard for the loving mother to give up hope for her recreant son!= To give up hope for her recreant son is hard for the loving mother.

This has a different meaning. Also, it is not correct to say "the + some"

= To satisfy the some people is hard for the men to do that.

This also does not have the same meaning.

Here is a substitute:

Some people are not happy no matter what you do for them.

The mountain is hard to climb.
= The mountain is hard for the people who should climb it. No.
= To climb the mountain is hard for the people to do that. No

Here are substitutes:

It is difficult to climb the mountain.
People find it difficult to climb the mountain.

How hard for the loving mother to give up hope for her recreant son!
= To give up hope for her recreant son is hard for the loving mother. OK

I say [Some people are hard to satisfy.] is equal to (It is hard for the men to want to satisfy the some people.) and (To satisfy the some people is hard for the men to do that.)

According to your teaching----"it" is not equal to those of the two sentences of mine and the new sentence as your suggestion, you seem to hint to me that my two sentences are not the same as "it" in the meaning of logic.

In the original sentence ----[Some people are hard to satisfy.], "be hard" is a judgment made from the men to satisy them and doesn't show that 'be hard' has an influence with the men to satisfy them.

----this part is very important to me, for it belongs to the connotation of {be hard to do}.

I hope for your confirmation about it.

About the reason why another two sentences considered as being 'no', it is as mentioned above.

This is my naive idea.

"Be hard to satisfy" is a characteristic of a person. Some people have red hair. Some people have a bad temper. Some people are hard to satisfy. Some people are hard to understand.

Examples:

1) Sam is hard to please.

John is Sam's son.

When John tries to please Sam, he usually fails. His father does not smile. He never tells John that he is a good son.

It is not hard for John to want to please Sam. John always wants to please his father. He tries every day to please his father.

So sentence (1) is not the same as:

It is hard for John to want to please Sam.

2) Sam is hard to understand.

Sam does not speak clearly. He speaks very softly. He speaks with a heavy accent. Most of the time, my friends and I cannot understand Sam. I want to undertand Sam. I try to understand Sam. But nobody except his wife can understand him. They have been married twenty years, so she has learned to understand him.

Sentence (2) is not the same as:

It is hard for me to want to understand Sam.

To your inspiration, can I put forth an idea?

In 2) Sam is hard to understand.

That the prototype of sentence (2) is "Sam is hard that sould understand Sam." = "Sam is hard according to / in regard to who which should understand Sam."

If sentence (2) does with the new way of its prototype, it might be equal to "It is hard for me to want to understand Sam."

Please right me and tell me your feeling.

The idea is on the scripture "....that he may bring to pass the resurrection of the dead, being the first that sould rise." (in 2 Nephi 2:8) If it is in modern English will come up to this way ----"being the first to rise."
