About the intrinsic meaning of "late"

Could anyone tell and right the wrong of my naive ideas?

[late]---arriving, happening, after the usual, arranged, necessary, or expected time;

In my naive ideas, the orininal = arriving, happening, after a particular time that is usual for the time / that is arranged for the time / that is necessary for the time / that is expected for the time;

[for]= as help to ;

thanks a lot in advance.
