About the double colon and semicolon

Hi,

Is this sentence correct?

Some examples of this are: 1) Heidi is happy; 2) Heidi is busy, and 3) Heidi is courageous.

Can we put numbers in the enumeration? At the end of the enumeration, can we use "and"?

In your first example, how you format the numbers and so forth depends on the prescribed "style" of the place where your writing appears, rather than being a case of "right" or "wrong". Your second sentence is fine. Which is best is up to you.

  • You might use the first sort of construction in scientific writing and the second in a more "talky" situation.
