Which is the British English style?

(a) The competition will be held on 28 March 2009, Friday from 8.00 a.m. to 3 p.m.at the school hall.

Well, the first one is no one's style, but I doubt Englishes vary much in their date presentation, other than for this style: 11/7/09 vs 7/11/09 . This is horrendous in any English and should be avoided like the plague. No one on any side of any ocean can be sure whether these represent November 7th or July 11th .
