About tenses

We had a guest at our class a week ago, and I'd like to write to her.
Could you tell me which one is correct?? or all of them need some correction?

1) We are happy to have you in our class.

2) We were happy to have you in our class.

I first wrote 2) and if I write 1), I think I should say 3)"We are happy to have had you in our class." because I'm talking about something that happened in the past.

Is my understanding ok??

Thank you in advance!
