about tenses.

I was given this sentence for getting the tense identified;

"If I were a bird, I could have flied."

and
"If I were a bird, I could fly."

The first sentence is incorrect. It should be:
"If I had been a bird, I could have flown." This is third conditional.
"If I were a bird, I could fly." This is second conditional.
