About tense

If I wrote my diary and some one saw it,
And I know that situation now! In this case ,
I might answer "it is private"right?? I think it's still private
But someone said to me using "was".I don't know why...
Cause if I used " was" it's no longer privite things I want to express it still private !!

Thank you so much in advance

If you are referring to a past incident when someone looked at your diary, it is not impossible to say "It was private", even if it is still private. However, "It's private" would be more usual.

A common-sense judgement about whether it is still private, based on knowledge of the circumstances, would apply.

So it's up to me, right?

If I chose "was " , it would contain less private...or no longer private..

For me, It's a little confusing but THANK YOU once again for your help!!!!!

As I mentioned earlier, if it is still private (which will normally be the case, I imagine) then "It's private" is the usual thing to say.
