About "story"

Can I say,

(a) She likes stories better than playing games.

(b) Reading storybooks / story is better than paying computer games.
(c)The story is better than the film(s).

(d)The storybook is better than (the) films.

(e) This story / storybook is better to read.

(f) The story of king and I is better than the film.

(g) The story is better than another story.

I got confused. I think I should say:

(b) Reading storybooks are better than playing games. (not "is", right? )

No, "is" is fine: the subject of the verb is the gerund phrase "Reading storybooks", which is singular.

(Gerunds are always singular.)

By the way, it might be better to avoid "storybooks": in ordinary usage, it is not a word that is used much, except with children.

If I remember correctly, the title is 'The King and I'.

Both versions may be, in different contexts, e.g.

1. I don't like Jane Austen very much; but the books are better than the films.

— specific reference.

2. Books are better than films.
