I have learnt that 'finishing' is a process, so the first sentence is ok to me. But I have a doubt with the second.

I don't think 'finish' is a process.So, how can you say: took me 2 hours to finish...

Please advise me in this regard.

It takes / took me two hours to finish my homework.

I don't think 'finish' is a process.-- You are on the wrong track, prajwalkr. Verb form choice has more to do with the main verb (spend vs take) than it does with 'process' or lack thereof.

I spent 2 hours finishing my homework.
