About sentence structure

Hi,

Which of these sentences are correct? All of them? One of them? Two of them? I have an idea, but need to check my own grammar with you. Please tell me:

1-He became king of France.

2-He became a king of France.

3-He became the king of France.

*Do we need to put the article before the word "king"?

Thanks,

MVB

The main issue here is whther you require a capital K. I think most people would use K in all these sentences.

1-He became king of France.

This uses the term as a title. I'd put a capital
