About period of years

Hello everyone.

we say

1980s : nineteen eighties

1990s : nineteen nineties

What about 2000s (2000-20010)?

We don't have a way to refer to these years yet, I'm afraid. The "two-thousand-aughts" just doesn't sound right. For now, you have to say something like "the first decade of the twenty-first century."

I think it may well crystallise into twenty xxxx : twenty twenty, twenty nineteen. It is the first decade that is difficult - and that seems generally to be "two thousand and x".
