About motivation letter

i am trying to get admisson in a research programme in Germany in physics. this is the letter i have written. can anyone please give me some suggestions about this letter??

Dear sir,
I am writing this letter to apply to your PhD program Condensed Matter Science. After completion of this research i plan to continue in the field of ultra cold atoms.My focus will be on application of their properties in field of quantum computing and optical communication.My career ambition is to become a professor at a reputed university.

I earned my bachelor’s degree from University of Delhi as a Physics graduate in 2013.Currently I am pursuing my master’s degree in Physics from XYZ College, which is one of the most famous institution in India.My degree will be completed in May, 2015.From the course module i took at XYZ College, i thoroughly enjoyed studying condense matter physics, statistical physics and quantum mechanics.Besides these subjects, i also studied electronics , experimental techniques and instrumentation and theories of atomic and molecular spectroscopy that helps me to deepen my under standing of fundamentals of physics. My hard work and diligence helped me score 8.2 CGPA till now, and i am expecting the same performance in future. During my studies ,i came through a research paper about the “Reduction of light speed up to 17 meters/second in ultra cold atoms” by Lene Vestergaard Hau, S. E. Harris Zachary Dutton & Cyrus H. Behroozi.I immediately thought, this phenomenon can have a great potential application in optical communication, as the optical signal can be operated very easily at such a low speed. This shaped my motivation to pursue a research career in ultra cold systems.

Based on my academic performance, i was selected for a research project under my supervisor .My research project focuses on the study of fluctuations in different samples.Since the fluctuations carry the actual information about the intrinsic dynamics of system, this project will help me to understand microscopic phenomenon at a much deeper level.The goal of the project is to design a set up for measurement of flicker noise in various samples. The set up will be used in association with a SQUID facility. Our target is to obtain spectroscopic data for flicker noise under different physical conditions viz., temperature variation, presence of magnetic field etc.

Complementing my strong academic performance are my advanced skills in leadership and communication. Because of my behavior and social skills, i was elected as a member of student’s council of P QR College in the academic year 20**-20**. As a member of a this team, i successfully organized many events at college and university level.These experiences not only improved my interpersonal skills by working in a cooperative team, but also taught me to function at a peak level while operating in chaos.Being a hostler from 10 consecutive years, i got an excellent opportunity to learn about different cultures and worked with different kind of people.This enhanced my skills of understanding and leadership.I appreciate the value of insistence, ambition and team work. And i have learned that commitment is necessary for success.
