About like this, this way.

Hello It's me again. Could you make me clear this explanation, please?

I've been told that there is a little difference in using like this/that and this/that way:

---> I want you to cook like this. (In this sentence, the person who tells you to cook, mimics the way to cook to be imitated, as on TV).

--->I want you to cook this way (But in this sentence, this person tells you to do it as a cookbook says, that's to say, following steps).

I am a little confussed about this. How can I use "like this" and "this way"? Thank you.
