About improving my writing skills

Dear all,

I will be so mortified if I am going to post the following question. I am going to be a Math Lecturer in an univeristy this sept. What is really bugging me is my writing skills or listening. During my garduate study, my academic supervisors would always laugh my english because the way I wrote always sounded so "chinglish". It made me quite frustrated most of the time. As a scholar, I feel very embarrased what I have achieved. I am "desperate" to get some any good suggestions to improve my english skills, both writing and listening.

In the past, I did enroll into some language schools in London. The level they taught are too rudimentary. Then I moved on an one-on-on tuition. Too expensive, didn't help much at the end.

Any kind of suggestions are all welcome here. Thanks!

Cheers

Ron

Hi, Personally speaking, I don't think we need to pay for someone to help us improve our English. Perhaps this may be the case three decades ago. We have plenty of resouces at our disposal nowadays on the internet, TV programmings and radio.

  • We just have to pay attention to the narration and speech patterns by the narrator or commendator, anyone can improve and I really do mean it.
  • The level of improvement will depend on the effort spent.
