About how to use "hate"

Which is more common or are both natural?

·My father hates me to play a video game.

·My father hates for me to play a video game.

That's interesting. In my idiolect, it's normal to say

My father hates me to play a video game.

but it's not considered good English to say

My father hates for me to play a video game.

I wonder if this is a USA vs. British thing? I forget.

That's interesting. In my idiolect, it's normal to say

but it's not considered good English to say

My father hates it when I play video games.

That's the first thing that would come out of my mouth! I don't know what region that comes from. I find the one with "for" the next most acceptable.

It seems to me that it should be "this video game" or "video games". "a video game" doesn't do it for me.

I agree with you that the sentence with the clause sounds more natural than either the one with the infinitive phrase or the one with the gerund phrase.
