about - Farewell

Hi, there

I wonder when I can use "Farewell!" to somebody. Is it better in formal situation rather than nomal "Good Bye" ?

If I may summarize a bit, the word is sometimes used in writing, for example in reporting a formal parting. However, at the time they ...bid Their Excellencies farewell on behalf of The Queen...., I doubt very much than anyone actually spoke the word 'Farewell'. It's u
