Can I say,

(a) Many events was held / held on Sports Day. Peter took part in the race competition. His friends congratulated him for winning / to win (the race).

(b) When / After the events ended, the headmaster gave prizes.

(c) The Sports Day / Sports Day events ended by 10 a.m.
