Regarding the following two sentences:

(A) He wrote a large number of novels until he died at 60.

(B) He wrote a large number of novels before he died at 60.

Q1 Are both grammatically correct?

I wonder why (A) sounds funny. Is it because (A) sounds like, "He wrote a large number of novels, and at last, he died at 60"?
