Dear friends,
Could you please tell me what is the difference of following sentences in their practical meaning.

1. I have been researching on animals and plants.
2. I have been researching about animals and plants.

eg I have been doing research into animals and plants.

Yes.

'Into' shows more the purpose or focus.
eg I have been doing research on animals.
eg I have been doing research into the nocturnal behaviour of animals.
